    Goulding Strikes Gold

    06 February, 2015

Ellie Goulding debuts at the top of this week's Singles Chart with 'Love Me Like You Do' (from the '50 Shades Of Grey' soundtrack), her first ever No1 single in Ireland.

Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk!' slips to No2 after seven weeks at the summit, while Ed Sheeran also drops a place, down to No3 with 'Thinking About You'. The second new entry of the week is at No11 for Kodaline with 'Honest', the first single from their second album 'Coming Up For Air' released today (Friday 6th Feb.). Maroon 5 have this week's highest climber, up eighteen places from No35 to No17 with 'Sugar', the band's ninth Top 20 single in Ireland.

It's an unusually tight race at the top of the Album Chart with just 100 sales separating the Top 5 albums, and it's Bob Dylan who is first across the finishing line with new entry 'Shadows In The Night', an album of songs made famous by Sinatra. This is his first new material since 2012's 'Tempest' which debuted at No2, and it's his first No1 since 'Modern Times' back in 2006. Sweden's First Aid Kit re-enter the chart at No7 with 'Stay Gold' (ahead of the No10 debut and peak last June), price-promoted on-line alongside their UK mini-tour. The second of three new entries in this week's Top 30 is at No23 for 2012 US X Factor finalists Fifth Harmony with their first full-length album 'Reflection'. Jazz pianist/vocalist Diana Krall completes the trio of new entries, arriving at No29 with 'Wallflower', an unexpected collection of pop & rock covers.
