    Christmas Charity

    Christmas Charity

    12 December, 2014

'Do They Know It's Christmas (2014)' has been available to download for four weeks, but with the CD release this week Band Aid 30 returns to the top of the Singles Chart after dipping from No1 to No4 last week.

This week's highest new entry - Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk!' (feat. Bruno Mars) - arrives at No2. This is Mark's first appearance on this chart since July 2010 when 'Bang Bang Bang' reached No18 and it surpasses his previous best, 'Valerie', a No3 hit with Amy Winehouse in 2007. Both the next two new entries in this week's Top 10 are charity releases. Puppet supergroup The Zog Chorus, (comprising Bosco, Pajo, Dustin and Zig & Zag), is new at No4 with 'We All Stand Together' in aid of ISPCC Childline, while Sile Seoige's 'Maybe This Christmas' debuts at No7, also supporting Childline as well as Make A Wish Foundation.

On the Album Chart the Top 3 remains unchanged since last week: Ed Sheeran at No1, One Direction at No2 and Hozier at No3. After his wedding rendition of 'Hallelujah' went viral last year, Father Ray Kelly signed a record deal and now releases his first album 'Where I Belong' - and it's this week's highest new entry at No4. By contrast, 24-year old country superstar Nathan Carter is already a chart veteran and lands at No8 with 'Christmas Stuff', his fifth studio album and the first since signing a worldwide major label deal with Decca Records.
