ARIANA GRANDE bags her sixth Irish #1 album with petal!

ARIANA GRANDE debuts at #1 on the IRMA Albums Chart today with petal, her eighth studio album and sixth Irish #1, released via Babydoll Music and Republic Records. The title track also enters the chart at #9. This is her first album to be released through her own imprint label, Babydoll Music.

The 12-track record was co-written and executively produced by Grande and longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh, with Max Martin joining as co-writer and producer on three tracks. It was recorded across Jungle City Studios in New York and Godzilya Studios in Los Angeles. Grande has described the album as drawing from emotions she had previously been "too shy or polite to tap into before", and characterised it as centred on breaking up with negative attachments and personal struggles.

Lead single hate that i made you love me, released 29 May and produced by Grande, Salmanzadeh, and Max Martin, debuted at #3 on the IRMA Singles Chart and currently sits at #8. Its music video , released on 1 June and starring actor Justin Long, was preceded by a lyric video drawn in comic-book style. The official music video for the title track petal, directed by Christian Breslauer, premiered 31 July along with the album.
