KNEECAP secure their first Irish #1 album with FENIAN as ELLA LANGLEY tops the Singles Chart!

Kneecap have secured their first Irish #1 on the IRMA Official Albums Chart

Belfast hip-hop trio Kneecap (Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí) have secured their first Irish #1 on the IRMA Official Albums Chart with FENIAN, their second studio album, released 1 May through Heavenly Recordings!

The group had already completed a follow-up to their 2024 debut Fine Art with a different producer, but scrapped it and started again with Dan Carey, who was introduced to them by Grian Chatten. Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap spent seven weeks at Carey’s South London studio while DJ Próvaí stayed in Ireland. Carey worked primarily with analogue synthesisers, writing and producing many tracks simultaneously. Two songs from the scrapped sessions, Occupied 6 and Gael Phonics, made the final cut.

Four singles preceded the release: Liars Tale (28 Jan), Smugglers & Scholars (24 Feb), Fenian (1 April), and Irish Goodbye (28 April). The album was originally scheduled for 24 April, the 110th anniversary of the Easter Rising, before being pushed back a week. Collaborations on the album include Lankum’s Radie Peat, Ramallah-based rapper Fawzi, and English spoken-word artist Kae Tempest.
